Dharamshala – McLeodganj

 

You are looking at the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, one of the highest cricket arenas in the world. Situated amidst the Dhauladhar mountain range in Kangra Valley, it has hosted many national and international matches. Dharamshala also acts as the residence of the Dalai Lama, is home to many monasteries and the nearby Mcleodganj is well known for numerous treks like the Triund Trek.

Also, closer is the best paragliding point in India, Bir Billing. So trek, para-glide, camp or just enjoy the lush greenery, snow clad mountains and beautiful cafés here. You can also combine these places with a trip to Amritsar & Dalhousie.

Explore Kullu – Manali

Itinerary:

Day 1:

Arrive in Chandigarh by morning flight. Proceed to Kullu by car & reach by evening.

Total distance: 270 kms

Day 2:

Kullu – Local sightseeing

  • Bijli Mahadev Temple

This temple is located on a hill called Mathan and is surrounded by valleys. The name comes from the fact that lightning strikes the Shiv Linga inside the temple and shatters into pieces. It is joined together later on a special occasion. One can reach the temple after a trek of around 3 kms.

  • Manikaran Hot Springs

Manikaran is a pilgrimage centre for Hindus and Sikhs. The Hindus believe that Manu recreated human life in Manikaran after the flood, thus making it a sacred area. The area is well known for its hot springs and a beautiful landscape.

  • Gurudwara Shri Manikaran Sahib

It is a historical Sikh shrine located in Manikaran where Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji had stayed with the Sikhs and performed miracles.

  • Dechen Choekhor Mahavihara

This place is dedicated to Tibetan Buddhism and is extremely beautiful and colourful with a breathtaking view of the Beas valley.

  • Vaishnodevi Temple

The temple, commonly known as the Mahadevi Tirthankaras, is named after Goddess Parvati. One can watch the wonderful forests, apple orchards and majestic hills on the way.

Day 3:

Check out from hotel & proceed to Manali.

  • Solang Valley

Solang Valley lies between Solang village and Beas Kund. It offers a beautiful view of glaciers and snow capped mountains. Since the valley has fine ski slopes, it is a perfect place for skiing.

  • Vashishta Temple & Hot Springs

A pair of temples stand here, one dedicated to Lord Ram and one to Sage Vashishta. It is also a place for hot springs, which rose after the sage fired an arrow in the ground, believed to have medicinal properties.

  • Hidimba Devi Temple

Also known as Dhungiri Temple, it is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimba Devi, wife of Bhim. The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest and is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground.

  • Manu Temple

This magnificent temple is dedicated to Sage Manu, who is said to be the creator of the world and this is where he had meditated after stepping on earth.

  • Museum of Himalayan Culture & Folk Art

The Museum has an admirable collection of rare and almost extinct articles. The items exhibited here highlight the traditional way of life of the Himachal people.

  • Shopping in Mall Road

Head to Mall Road to shop some of Manali’s exotic souvenirs like Apple pickles, shawls, designer rugs, handicrafts, saffron etc.

Day 4:

Rohtang Pass is a high mountain pass located in the Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas. It is at an elevation of 3,978 metres. The pass lies between the Chenab & Beas basins.

Day 5:

Check out from Hotel & drive to Chandigarh. Hotel stay at Chandigarh.

Day 6:

Check out from Hotel & proceed to airport for return flight / train.

Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain located high in the Himalaya mountains in Himachal Pradesh. Located at 200 kms from Manali.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrive in Chandigarh by Flight / Train. Take overnight bus from Chandigarh to Reckong Peo.

Day 2:

Arrive early morning at Reckong Peo and proceed to Tabo after breakfast.

Day 3:

Explore Tabo village & visit Gue mummy village.

Day 4:

Visit Dhangkar Monastery & hike to Dhangkar Lake. Proceed to Kaza.

Day 5:

Visit Kaza Monastery, Ki & Kibber, Tashigang village

Day 6:

Day trip to Hikkim, Komic & Langza

Day 7:

Drive to Chandrataal Lake via Losar & Kunzum La Pass (4590m). Camping at lakeside.

Day 8:

Drive from Chandrataal to Manali. Take night bus to Chandigarh.

Day 9:

Depart from Chandigarh
