Sri Lanka Group Tour Itinerary (8 Days / 7 Nights)

Introduction

 

Explore pristine beaches, ancient cave temples, world’s best train ride, tea plantations, wildlife safari, local food, shopping and more in Sri Lanka.

Day 1

Arrive in Colombo International Airport. We will be straightaway proceeding to the city of Dambulla to explore the following places.

Dambulla Royal Cave temple – As the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will be exploring the following sights near Dambulla.

Sigiriya Rock – An ancient rock fortress located near Dambulla. We will be climbing the 200 metres high massive column of rock. This site was selected by King Kashyapa for his new capital. He built his palace on the top of this rock and decorated its sides with colourful frescoes.

Minneriya National Park Safari – A wildlife sanctuary popular for spotting wild elephants who are attracted to the grass fields on the edges of the reservoir. We will be going on a safari in the afternoon.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will be taking a short drive to the city of Kandy. Explore the following sights in Kandy:

• Temple of the Tooth
• Gadaladeniya Temple
• Ambuluwawa Tower
• Buddha Statue
• Royal Palace of Kandy
• Cultural Dance show

Stay overnight in Kandy.

Day 4

We will take the world’s most scenic train ride from Kandy to Ella. The train takes you through stunning landscapes of green and lush tea plantations, old lovely bridges, waterfalls, villages and mountain views.

Stay overnight in Ella.

Day 5

After breakfast, we will be exploring the sights located near Ella.

• Nine Arch Bridge
• Little Adam’s Peak
• Lipton Seat
• Diyaluma Waterfalls
• Ravana Falls
• Ella Rock

Stay overnight in Ella.

Day 6

After breakfast, we will drive to the town of Mirissa located in the South. Mirissa is a fishing port and one of Sri Lanka’s main whale and dolphin watching locations.

We will relax for the rest of the day at the beach.

Day 7

In the morning, we will go on a whale watching tour from Mirissa.

Post lunch, we will proceed to the city of Galle. We will explore the following sights near Galle:

• Galle Dutch Fort
• Galle Lighthouse
• Hikkaduwa Beach
• Unawatuna Beach

Day 8

Drive to Colombo & return flight to your destination.
