🗓️ Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s weather varies by coast and altitude, so timing matters depending on where you’re headed.

• ✅ Best Time — December to March: Dry season on the west & south coasts. Ideal for Colombo, Kandy, and the hill country (Nuwara Eliya). Cool, pleasant weather in the highlands.
• 👍 Good Time — April & May: Transition period before the monsoon. Hill country is lush and green with fewer crowds.
• ⚠️ Avoid — May to September: South-west monsoon brings heavy rain to Colombo and the west coast. Nuwara Eliya gets significant rainfall.
• 🏔️ Cultural Triangle (Dambulla & Sigiriya) — May to September: Ironically, this is the dry season for the north & east — great for the ancient sites while the coasts are wet.

💡 Tip: For this itinerary covering Colombo, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, and Sigiriya — December to March is the sweet spot.

Day 1 – Colombo

Take a flight from your city to Colombo. Pickup from the airport & proceed to the hotel for check-in. Visit the following places:

• Galle Face Beach – Oceanfront urban park stretching along the coast
• Lotus Tower – At 356 metres, the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia

Day 2 – Nuwara Eliya

• Seeta Amman Temple – Hindu temple linked to the Ramayana, said to mark where Sita was held captive
• Adma Agro – Strawberry Farm Shop – Local farm shop selling fresh strawberries & homemade preserves

Day 4 – Kandy

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel & proceed to Kandy. Visit the following places in Kandy:

Day 5 – Dambulla → Sigiriya

Check-out from the hotel after breakfast. Proceed to Dambulla.

Visit Dambulla Cave Temple (Golden Temple of Dambulla). A UNESCO World Heritage site in the Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka. As the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in the country, it spans five majestic sanctuaries carved into a massive 160-metre-high granite rock. It houses 157 ancient statues and over 2,100 square metres of brilliant Buddhist mural paintings.

Proceed to Sigiriya for overnight stay.

Day 6 – Sigiriya

Sigiriya Lion Rock is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an ancient fortress complex perched atop a massive, 200-metre-high granite volcanic plug in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka. Built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD, this architectural marvel served as a royal palace and fortress, earning its reputation as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”

Visit Minneriya National Park for an afternoon wildlife safari. (Optional)

Overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 7 – Sigiriya → Colombo

Check-out from the hotel & proceed to Colombo for overnight stay. Go for shopping in Colombo.

Day 8 – Return Flight

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel & proceed to Colombo Airport for the return flight to your city.
