Day 1 β€” Bagdogra β†’ Phuentsholing

Take morning flight from your city to Bagdogra. Proceed to Phuentsholing by road (4–5 hours) β€” the Bhutan border. Check-in at the hotel & relax for the evening.

Day 2 β€” Thimphu

After breakfast, proceed to Thimphu by road. Check-in at the hotel in Thimphu. Visit the local market in the evening.

Day 3 β€” Thimphu Sightseeing

Explore the following sights in Thimphu:

  • Simply Bhutan β€” Living museum recreating traditional Bhutanese village life & customs
  • Takin Reserve β€” Sanctuary for the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal
  • Buddha Dordenma Statue β€” Giant golden Buddha statue overlooking the Thimphu valley
  • National Memorial Chorten β€” Stupa built in memory of the Third King, a hub of daily prayer & worship
  • Changangkha Lakhang β€” One of Thimphu’s oldest temples, offering panoramic valley views
  • Royal Textile Academy β€” Museum showcasing traditional Bhutanese weaving & textile art

Day 4 β€” Punakha

Proceed to Punakha via Dochu La Pass. Explore the following places:

  • Dochu La Mountain Pass & Chortens β€” Mountain pass at 3,100m with 108 chortens & stunning Himalayan views
  • Chimi Lakhang Monastery β€” Fertility temple dedicated to the “Divine Madman,” set amid rice fields
  • Punakha Dzong β€” Majestic fortress-monastery at the confluence of two rivers, Bhutan’s former capital
  • Punakha Suspension Bridge β€” One of Bhutan’s longest suspension bridges, strung with prayer flags
  • River Rafting in Mo Chhu River β€” Scenic rafting along the calm waters of the Mo Chhu

Return to Thimphu by evening.

Day 5 β€” Paro

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel. Proceed to Paro. Explore the following sights:

  • Chele La Pass β€” Highest mountain pass in Bhutan, with views of Mt. Jomolhari
  • Haa Valley β€” Remote, scenic valley surrounded by pine-forested mountains
  • Paro Market β€” Local market for handicrafts, produce & everyday Bhutanese goods

Day 6 β€” Tiger’s Nest Trek

Trek to Tiger’s Nest Monastery β€” perched at the edge of a cliff at 3,120m. The full trek is approximately 7 hours (up and down). A pony can be hired to reach the halfway point. An absolute must-visit in Bhutan.

Visit Paro Market in the evening, enjoy a traditional Hot Stone Bath at the homestay & watch archery on the public grounds of Paro.

Day 7 β€” Paro β†’ Bagdogra

Proceed to Phuentsholing. Further, proceed to Bagdogra. Check-in at the hotel.

Day 8 β€” Return

Proceed to Bagdogra airport for your return flight home.
